Find the Fact – Dave Craggs
Only one of the following statements about Dave is correct. The other two are false. How well do you know your Secretary?

- Dave was one of the founding members of Helsby Golf Club
- Dave flew a glider sitting in the same seat (but not at the same time) that Anneka Rice had occupied whilst filing Challenge Anneka in 1993
- Dave ran in the Warrington 10K (6.2 miles) at the age of 71. He completed the course in under 52 minutes and raised over £200 for the River Reeves Foundation which was set up following the tragic accident in Sweden involving members of Viola Beach

Seniors match Friday 1 May v Helsby Golf Club
Author and Captain of the Day: Steve Gosling

A beautiful morning as 16 of Lymm’s Seniors set out optimistically with a belly full of a bacon butty to take on Helsby.
It was nearly 15 as Barrie Simpson decided he would do a detour via Helsby, thinking it was an away fixture.
A competitive set of matches apart from Helsby failing to adopt an apparent “local rule” …. Mike Pigott does not allow anybody 2 shots on a hole in match play!
I think the tone on that match was set on the first hole as the person Mike was giving 23 shots to drove his drive past the 150 marker, the thoughts of an early fish and chips had already been set.
Overall it was 4 : 4
Wins for
Steve Gosling and Ian Goodman
Andrew Cox and John Armstrong
Pete Broady and Alan Ranscombe
Half’s for Mark Lyons and Phil Ormisher and Mark Pickles’s and Barrie Simpson
The fish and chips went down well and everyone left happy in the sunshine to face another battle on the return leg later in the year.
Senior Member Update – Colin Lees
Author: Duncan Clarke
Just thought that the members of our section would like to know that Colin Lees is having his big toe amputated on Friday and we wish him all the best from all the seniors. It’s been infected and causing him so much trouble his consultant has advised amputation. But he should be back in three to four weeks’ time. In the meantime, we’ll all miss his dry with and camaraderie.
Fun round – Bottle of Wine Friday 1 May

No report this week I’m afraid (as no one seems to have collected the cards in Mr Foster’s absence!) but the result taken from IG was as follows:
| First place | Les Williams | 30 points (CPO) |
| Second place | Steve Barlow | 30 points |
| Third place | Alan Copeland | 29 points |
Congratulations Les, I’ll let you have your quality bottle of red the next time I see you in the clubhouse

Happy Mondays tee-booking schedule for Sunday 3 May

Rules Quiz answer
Correct answer B. Explanation: See Rule 18.1. Once the player put another ball in play under penalty of stroke and distance, the original ball is no longer in play and must not be played.
Find the Fact answer
Answer 2 (Anneka Rice) is correct. Dave can’t remember if he was a founding member of Helsby Golf Club which came into being in 1901. Dave did complete the Warrington 10k run but he was 73 years of age, not 71, when he did this. Other than his age all the other facts in answer 3 are correct.
