New Seniors’ Memorial Bench Monitor

Reporter: David Craggs

The Committee would like to thank Andrew Ransom, who has for the last 6 years, maintained the bench and surround area adjacent to the 14th tee.

I have now now taken on this task and had my first day in the sunshine tidying up the area. With the help of Peter Willson the memorial bench is being adapted to house some new brass plaques.

Andrew and Michael John also maintained the rockery and I am sure you will agree the rockery is a focal point outside the clubhouse.

Peter Herrity Trophy – Played Friday 18 August

The Peter Herrity Trophy was a WHS qualifying competition (18 holes off the yellow tees). It as a dull and breezy day, although there was perhaps a bit more run on the ball than in recent weeks. The full results can be see here on the main LGC website.

Second: Sammy Lee, 40 points
Third: Ken Narraway, 39 points

Well done especially to Ken, who celebrated his 80th birthday on the day of the competition! And thank you, Ken, for the shots of whisky!

Tee booking schedule for tomorrow (Thursday 23rd August)

This is the tee booking schedule for play on Friday 8th September.

If your name is in the left column, please book for your group.

As noted, 8th September is the Champions competition, whose qualifiers will be the first out, due to the course being closed to us for a shotgun start at 13:00. We should have more than enough time for this 15-hole competition. But, as always, try to keep up with the game in front.

The names in yellow are ‘ghosts’, two of whose slots might be needed if the last game of the summer league yields two more qualifiers. Those out from 08:24 onwards will play for a bottle of wine.
